SMME Access Build Coordinator

Role Summary:
The SMME Access Build Coordinator coordinates the end-to-end execution of SMME access build activities, including access build surveys, link build arrangements, progress tracking, contractor coordination, and handover administration. The role acts as the primary liaison between internal teams and contractors to ensure access build projects are delivered within agreed timelines and budget, while meeting quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Schedule access builds with contractors in line with access build processes.
Coordinate installation schedules to ensure efficient utilisation of contractors and alignment with operational priorities.
Track installation progress against agreed timelines and service level expectations.
Escalate exceptions, risks, or delays to the Project Manager and track agreed corrective actions through to closure.
Identify sites that require major maintenance work and escalate these to the Project Manager.
Provide operational guidance to contractors, coordinate required support, and escalate unresolved issues where necessary.
Follow up on incomplete, delayed, or failed installations and ensure corrective actions are tracked until closure.
Raise and process access build purchase orders in accordance with MetroFibre standards, policies, approval requirements, and agreed turnaround times.
Monitor the financial management system for new, updated, or pending orders that require capturing, follow-up, or administrative action.
Track SMME access build and monitor related expenditure to promote effective cost control.
Review contractor invoices to confirm that the details correspond with completed work orders before submission to the relevant managers for approval.
Monitor whether completed installations meet company standards, fibre installation specifications, and quality requirements.
Identify and escalate non-compliant installations, recurring defects, safety concerns, or major technical issues for further intervention.
Maintain accurate exception logs to support follow-up, audit readiness, and operational reporting.
Qualifications Required:
Matric
Certificate or diploma in Project Management, Telecommunications, Network Operations, or a related technical field.
Certified Fibre Optic Technician qualification will be considered.
Work Experience:
3-5 Years experience coordinating technical teams or contractors within the telecommunications, construction, or related operations environment.
