Role Summary:
The successful candidate will provide legal support across the business, with a focus on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, company policies, legal risk management and litigation.
Responsibilities:
Negotiate, draft and review commercial contracts, terms and conditions, and related legal documentation.
Ensure contractual documentation accurately captures business requirements while mitigating legal and commercial risk.
Review third-party agreements and recommend appropriate amendments to protect the Company’s interests.
Draft, amend and maintain legal templates, precedents and standard agreements.
Monitor developments in applicable legislation and the regulatory environment and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders.
Support compliance with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements, including ICASA requirements applicable to IECS and IECNS licensees.
Support ESG compliance and the development and maintenance of the Company’s compliance framework.
Support POPIA compliance, records retention management and information governance responsibilities.
Assist with company secretarial and general legal administration matters.
Ensure effective contract lifecycle management and appropriate records retention.
Attend to demands, claims, summonses and other legal processes within required timeframes.
Draft letters of demand and claims and assist with litigation oversight and management.
Provide support with dispute resolution and other ad hoc legal matters.
Qualifications Required:
Matric.
LLB or BCom Law degree.
Admitted Attorney.
Work Experience:
3–8 years’ commercial legal experience, preferably within a corporate environment.
Demonstrable POPIA and compliance experience.
Experience in the ICT, telecommunications or technology sector would be advantageous.
Skills Required:
Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Good understanding of regulatory compliance and legal risk management.
